Sayoni's Background

My work as a psychoanalytic practitioner is grounded in seven years of private practice and clinical experience across India and France. I hold master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology (India) and Psychoanalysis (France), along with postgraduate training in Counselling and Stress Management.

Therapeutic work is a continual process of learning, which I pursue through international seminars with renowned psychoanalytic schools such as the Lacanian Compass, the Lacan Circle of Australia, and the École de la Cause Freudienne. I also continue my own personal analysis and supervision with senior analysts in Europe and the US.

My clinical experience includes hospital internships, seven years of private practice, co-founding Bhalo Theko—a Kolkata-based mental health NGO offering individual and group therapy—and my current work at L’EPOC, Paris. This diverse background enables me to adapt the therapeutic process to each individual, creating a space that is thoughtful, responsive, and attuned to the uniqueness of every story.

What kind of therapy do I Offer?

I am a psychoanalytic therapist, working with individuals aged 16 and above. In our conversations, we may look at:
 

  • Repetitive difficulties in relationships or work
     

  • Feelings of anxiety, sadness, or emptiness
     

  • Questions of identity, purpose, or direction
     

  • How past experiences shape the present

Psychoanalysis begins with the idea that unconscious thoughts and emotions deeply influence how we live and relate to others. In therapy, we work together to recognize these underlying patterns, understand their origins, and explore new ways of responding. This process allows for relief from burdens that may feel overwhelming and opens the possibility of living more freely and in tune with one’s desires.
 

This is not a “one size fits all” method. Each session is open-ended and shaped by what you bring—in your own words, at your own pace. While we may address immediate struggles, we also attend to their roots: the feelings, histories, and repetitions that quietly organize your life.
